“Together for Limestone” campaign launched to preserve University’s mission amid urgent needFree Access

Limestone University has officially launched the public phase of its “Together for Limestone” fundraising campaign – an urgent and essential effort to secure immediate, unrestricted financial support to keep the institution’s nearly 180-year mission alive.

Following last week’s announcement about Limestone’s critical financial challenges, the University is now turning to its broader community with an urgent plea for help. The campaign’s silent phase sparked an encouraging wave of support from alumni, donors, and local advocates, and that momentum now drives this public call to action.

“This campaign is not just about preserving Limestone’s campus – it’s about fighting for the future of our students, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college,” said Limestone University President Dr. Nathan Copeland. “The response so far has been encouraging, but we must act quickly and boldly to ensure Limestone’s legacy continues.”

Unrestricted gifts to the “Together for Limestone” campaign are crucial to sustaining campus operations, academic programs, and vital student services. These funds will immediately address the University’s most pressing needs while supporting a path toward long-term viability.

Limestone is home to a vibrant, diverse student body – both on campus and online – with a mission rooted in serving first-generation college students and uplifting the surrounding Gaffney and Cherokee County communities. For generations, the University has been a beacon of opportunity, economic stability, and cultural impact.

“Our mission has always extended beyond Limestone’s gates,” Copeland added. “We’re asking everyone who believes in the power of education to join us now. When you give to Limestone, you’re investing in students, in families, and in the future of this entire region.”

The University is calling on alumni, friends, and supporters across the nation to rally “Together for Limestone” – and to act now to help secure its future.
