James “Jimmy” Hodge, born on August 18, 1953, in Gaffney, South Carolina, passed away April 21,2025 and went to be with the Lord. A cherished son of Mary McPherson Hodge and James Donald “Jay Bird” Hodge, Jimmy grew up in Gaffney, where he laid down roots that would grow into a lifetime of love, family, and cherished memories.
Preceding Jimmy in death were his parents, Mary and James Hodge, his sister, Marion Hodge, and his beloved wife, Tammie Hayes Hodge.
Jimmy is survived by his five children, who were his pride and joy: Billy Hodge, Michelle Hodge Mathis (Jason), Farris Marie Hodge, Sylvia Hodge, and Patti Jackson (Richard). He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Susan Harrill and Eddie Hodge. Jimmy’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Scott Mathis, Dustin Mathis, Kimberly Mathis, Justin Mathis (Kimberly), O’Bryan Jackson, James Jackson, and Alyssa Jackson, along with an abundance of great-grandchildren, a great grandchild, nieces, and nephews who adored him.
Jimmy found happiness in the simple joys of life, especially in his favorite pastime, fishing. Whether it was reeling in the catch of the day or enjoying peaceful moments by the water, Jimmy’s passion for the outdoors reflected his love for life and nature.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, continuing his legacy of care and compassion
Family members are at their respective residences. The memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the event building located at 125 Beltline Road, Gaffney, SC 29341.
